Design Week is next week! Hooray! We’re here to help you navigate our jam-packed schedule. Starting today, we will share the itinerary for each day so you can make the most of your week. We’ll also share other cool things happening around Sacramento during Design Week, and some of our favorite local spots.

9 AM:  Business of Design Panel @ Beatnik
A panel discussion on starting your own design business. Hear four local agency / studio owners talk about starting a design business. Meet your speakers:

12 PM: UX Portfolio Workshop @ The Urban Hive
Have your portfolio reviewed by UX & Product Design experts! Missy Titus, a Product Design and Branding Consultant, and UX & Product Designer Ray Sensenbach will co-lead this portfolio review and workshop. Bring your portfolio and questions you have about the process.

2 PM: Business Ethics Lecture @ The Urban Hive
A lecture on handling ethics, expectations and responsibilities of working in the field of design. Marcy is a veteran designer, educator and design cheerleader. She has spent more than 20 years creating visual experiences that engage and delight. Since 2008, she’s taught courses in graphic design and professional practice to more than 700 eager students at UC Davis, Sacramento City College and Sierra College. Never without a side project, her newest adventure is coaching creatives to find purpose and meaning in their work.

6:30 pm: Navigating the Design Industry @ The WorkShop
Join Sac DESCO for a low-key chat with local designers and learn more about navigating the design industry. This event is for newbies, those in transition, or any designer who wants to share their knowledge and experiences working in-house, agency, or freelance.

While you’re scooting around downtown, check out our local murals! We partnered with Art of the Day Sac to offer a self-guided mural tour, so be sure to download a copy and take it with you!

3 PM: Mural tour & mixer @ Blue Line Arts
Join Blue Line Arts for a free guided tour of the Roseville Mural Project where 5 artists will be creating new designs for the community!
Starting at Blue Line Arts, Co-Directors Brooke Abrames and MaryTess Mayall will be leading the tour, stopping at each mural location along Vernon Street. They will provide the backstory of how this public art initiative came to fruition, sharing information about the participating artists and how they were chosen, community stakeholders and why this project is important for downtown Roseville. There will be a mixer reception to follow in the gallery at Blue Line Arts. Enjoy light refreshments, beer and wine will be available for purchase. This will also be a great opportunity for a meet and greet with the mural artists! This is a completely free event, designed for local artists, creatives and art enthusiasts to learn more about this vibrant community project in downtown Roseville.

El Dorado Hills

4 PM: Happy Hour @ Osteria Moto
We're taking a field trip to El Dorado Hills! Join us for a Happy Hour at Osteria Moto and hear the story behind the design! Stephen Saklusky, Owner and Designer, will share how his space was designed with light and materials that age well with time and work well with operations and flow. You will also hear from Executive Chef Andy Chavez and local artist Joshua Tremain.
