Morning Workshops

  • Go Font Yourself

    10:00 am - Track 1
    with Killian McMann

Think making your own font sounds hard? Think again. In this hands-on workshop, illustrator and type nerd Kilian McMann will show you how to take your hand-drawn letters from sketchbook to screen — and turn it into a working font using Fontself, a $40 plugin for Adobe Illustrator. You’ll get to create one letter of a collaborative alphabet, which Kilian will compile into a downloadable font to share with attendees after the workshop. Come ready to draw, experiment, and discover how accessible (and fun) font-making can really be.

  • Embracing Raw Creativity

    10:00 am - Track 2
with Sheila Johnston & Steve Joves

Creativity can be a life-or-death matter—at least for your ideas. In Wolves Among Zombies, our award-winning short film, we survived on grit, guts, and a few questionable props. Now, we’re sharing those survival skills in “Embracing Raw Creativity,” a workshop for anyone ready to push storytelling to its limits. Join Steve Joves and Sheila Johnston as we reveal how to get started, thrive under constraints, harness collaboration superpowers, and turn “what if?” into “why not?” Whether you’re chasing innovation or just trying to keep your ideas from going undead, this session is your creative survival kit.

  • Collage as Creative Catalyst

    11:15 am - Track 2
    with Justina Martino

Unleash your creativity in this low-pressure collage session. We'll start by exploring inspirational works from artists throughout history before diving into materials and techniques. You'll have access to a wide variety of supplies, including magazines, colored papers, and more.

Collage is a great way to engage your intuitive mind and overcome creative blocks. The process of collecting and arranging materials acts as a meditative warm-up, allowing you to build momentum and discover new ideas. You'll learn about composition, color, and more, all while creating your own unique collage. This is a chance to create in community and share with others.

  • Advocate Like An Artist

    11:15 am - Track 2
    with Allison Carpio

As creatives, we pour ourselves into our work. But when it’s time to talk about it or promote it, we often freeze. This workshop will guide you through reflection, values-aligned storytelling, and practice to help you speak about your work in a way that feels true to you.

    You’ll walk away with:

    - A redefined view of visibility rooted in your values
    - A short story or self-intro to use in your work
    - Tools to show up with clarity and confidence

Whether you're presenting a project, sharing a new idea, or showing up on video, this is about finding visibility on your terms.
